Overview
Congenital malformation where the anal or rectal opening is obstructed. The malformation is often associated with other abnormalities.

High anorectal malformations have a blind end of the rectum located above the puborectalis muscle. More than 80% of anorectal ageneses are associated with a fistula (e.g.

Gap in the oesophagus (oesophageal atresia).
Malformations of the legs.
Causes of renal agenesis
During foetal development, the kidneys grow in three distinct stages.

We also observed associations with certain congenital heart defects and with anorectal atresia.

Anorectal atresia - malformation of the opening between the rectum and anus.
Pulmonary atresia - malformation of the pulmonary valve in which the valve orifice fails to develop.

Anorectal atresia ... fetal death, stillbirth
Antiphospholipid syndrome ... fetal death, premature birth, eclampsia, recurrent fetal loss
Aorto-ventricular tunnel ... fetal death, death soon after birth
Aplasia cutis congenita -- epibulbar dermoids ..
