Anterior Pituitary Disorders
The anterior (front) lobe of the pituitary gland makes up 80 percent of the gland's weight. It releases a variety of hormones that affect growth, physical and sexual development, and other endocrine glands.

Anterior tongue: The front two-thirds of the tongue. In contrast to the base of the tongue, which is the back third. The distinction between the anterior and base of the tongue reflects the fact that they are of different embryological origin.

Anterior means "in front of" or "the front surface of." The term usually refers to the front side of the body. For example, your knees and your face are on the anterior surfaces of your body.

An anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, injury is a tear in one of the knee ligaments that joins the upper leg bone with the lower leg bone. The ACL keeps the knee stable. See a picture of the knee and the ACL .

ACL stands for Anterior Cruciate Ligament of the knee. The knee is the largest and most complex joint in your body. It depends on four ligaments and other muscles and tendons to function properly.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury
Definition
An anterior cruciate ligament injury is extreme stretching or tearing of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee. A tear may be partial or complete.

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a band of fibrous tissue that provides support to the knee joint. It keeps the tibia from slipping forward on the femur. The tibia is one of the bones in the lower leg. The femur is the thighbone.

This type of bursitis is also called Albert's disease.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) - The ACL and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) bridge the inside of the knee joint, forming an "X" pattern that stabilizes the knee against front-to-back and back-to-front forces.

Anterior nosebleeds make up more than 90% of all nosebleeds. The bleeding usually originates from a blood vessel on the nasal septum. Anterior nosebleeds are usually easy to control, either by measures that can be performed at home or by a doctor.

Anterior cervical discectomy:
Surgery to remove a damaged disc may be done to relieve pressure on the spinal cord. A disc is a tough sac filled with a jelly-like substance. Discs sit between each of the bones in your neck and act as shock absorbers.

Anterior portions of the oral cavity are associated with smaller risk of neck metastasis than posterior portions.
Young patients with oral carcinoma have a higher risk of developing nodal metastasis than older patients.

The anterior lobe of the pituitary gland is called the adenohypophysis. It produces a variety of hormones, such as prolactin that stimulates lactation in women. Melanocyte spurs the body to produce melanin for skin and hair pigmentation.

The anterior pituitary secretes:
Growth hormone;
Adrenocorticotropin (controls cortisol secretion by adrenal gland so affects glucose, protein and fat metabolism);
Thyroid stimulating hormone (regulates thyroid hormone release); ...

With the anterior approach, your surgeon can relieve pressure on your spinal cord from bone or from multiple disk protrusions by removing two disks and the bone between them (corpectomy).

The front (anterior) portion produces hormones that affect the thyroid gland, adrenal cortex, ovaries, testes, and the breasts (in women). This gland reaches its maximum size in middle age and then gradually becomes smaller.
