Aromatase deficiency
Overview
A congenital deficiency of the enzyme called aromatase which is needed to convert androgens to estrogens.

 


Placental aromatase deficiency: This is a rare enzyme defect in the placenta that leads to exposure of the fetus to an excess of testosterone.

Aromatase deficiency. This one may not be noticeable until puberty. Aromatase is an enzyme that normally converts male hormones to female hormones.
