Overview
Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) is a term used to describe the presence of two or more (multiplex) joint contractures (arthrogryposis) present at birth (congenita).

Babies who survive often have arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (nonprogressive congenital contractures) due to lack of fetal muscle movement before birth. Transient signs of MG are seen in 10-15% of babies born to MG mothers.

Symptoms of CMD are usually seen at birth, and include lack of muscle strength ("floppy baby") and multiple joint contractures (arthrogryposis). No definitive treatment is available for CMD.
