Disease Asymptomatic HIV infectionAtaxia Telangiectasia

Ataxia telangiectasia
Ataxia telangiectasia is a neurodegenerative disease that affects many different parts of a person's body and can lead to major disability. It is an inherited disease, but it is very rare.

Ataxia with vitamin E deficiency
Overview
Ataxia with vitamin E deficiency is a disorder that impairs the body's ability to use vitamin E.

Ataxia is a neurological sign and symptom consisting of gross lack of coordination of muscle movements.

Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T)
There are mutations in some genes that potentially give a small predisposition to develop breast cancer. One example is ataxia telangiectasia (A-T).

Ataxia: Wobbliness. Incoordination and unsteadiness due to the brain's failure to regulate the body's posture and regulate the strength and direction of limb movements.

What is ataxia with oculomotor apraxia?
Ataxia with oculomotor apraxia is a condition characterized by progressive problems with movement.

(tk´s), lack of coordination of the voluntary muscles resulting in irregular movements of the body. Ataxia can be brought on by an injury, infection, or degenerative disease of the central nervous system, e.g.

Ataxia-telangiectasia (AT), or Louis-Bar syndrome, is a multisystem disorder serious health implications, the most important being an increased risk for malignancies. It is among the most common causes of unsteadiness (ataxia) in children.

Ataxia telangiectasia is an autosomal recessive syndrome of numerous telangiectasia involving skin, mucosa and sclera, progressive cerebellar ataxia, and a tendency towards infection.

Ataxia refers to uncoordinated movements, such as walking. Telangiectasias are enlarged blood vessels (capillaries) just below the surface of the skin. Telangiectasias appear as tiny, red, spider-like veins.
Causes ...

Ataxia describes a lack of ability to move the muscles in a coordinated fashion. People with ataxia have irregular or awkward movements.
What is going on in the body?

Ataxia-telangiectasia results from a T-cell defect and causes progressive cerebellar ataxia, oculocutaneous telangiectasias, and recurrent sinopulmonary infections.

A characteristic autopsy feature of ataxia-telangiectasia is the presence of empty basket cells in the cerebellum which results from degeneration of the previously contained Purkinje cells.
Inheritance: autosomal recessive.

Ataxia-A condition marked by impaired muscular coordination, most frequently resulting from disorders in the brain or spinal cord.
Oxidative stress-A condition where the body is producing an excess of oxygen-free radicals.

Psychataxia
Mental confusion as well as an inability to pay attention, concentrate, or make a continued mental effort. Psychataxia comes from the Latin word "psyche" meaning "mind," and the Greek word "ataxia" meaning "confusion.

Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) is the association of severe combined immunodeficiency (affecting mainly the humoral immune response) with progressive cerebellar ataxia.

Ataxia can be broken into two distinct groups: sporadic and hereditary. Hereditary ataxia can usually be traced to a family history, and can be linked to twenty-two gene mutations.

Ataxia-telangiectasia is transmitted as an autosomal recessive trait. The disease results from mutations in a gene called ATM.

Ataxia may be the result of a defect that is present from birth (congenital) or a viral infection such as the chicken pox. It may also develop after encephalitis, head trauma, and diseases that affect the central nervous system or spinal cord.

Friedreich ataxia affects the spinal cord and the cerebellum (the part of the brain that controls coordination of movement), hence termed spinocerebellar disorder.

Friedreich's ataxia is an inherited (genetic) disorder that causes certain nerve cells to deteriorate over time. In many cases, this disorder also affects the heart, certain bones and cells in the pancreas that produce insulin.

Ataxia telangiectasia
Ataxia telangiectasia (AT) is a rare inherited syndrome caused by a faulty AT gene. The gene is called ATM, which stands for ataxia telangiectasia mutated.

Ataxia
Ataxia is unsteady and clumsy motion of the limbs or trunk due to a failure of the fine coordination of muscle movements.

Ataxia-telangiectasia. This rare, progressive childhood disease causes degeneration in the brain and other body systems. The disease causes your immune system to break down (immunodeficiency disease), making you susceptible to diseases.

Ataxia
Ataxia is a lack of co-ordination in the muscles. It is a symptom of damage to part of the central nervous system. Locomotor ataxia involves a lack of balance, or equilibrium.

Ataxia - A problem of muscle coordination not due to apraxia, weakness, rigidity, spasticity or sensory loss. Caused by lesion of the cerebellum or basal ganglia.

Ataxia: Ataxia is caused by damage to a part of the brain called the cerebellum that is responsible for movement and balance. Therefore, the symptoms of the disease are problems with these things.
