Definition
Autoimmune disorders are conditions caused by an immune response against the body's own tissues.

Some autoimmune disorders, such as psoriasis, run in families and may have a genetic component. Although no one knows for sure what causes an autoimmune response, some triggers have been identified.

Autoimmune disorders. People with autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis and Sjögren syndrome, are at an increased risk for developing certain types of NHL. Also, some drugs used to treat autoimmune disorders may increase the risk of NHL.

In autoimmune disorders, the body fails to recognize normal body functions and chemical productions. In Sjogren's, the body's white cells attack and fight the natural processes of tear and saliva production.
