Absolute diagnosis of Alport Syndrome can be difficult because its symptoms are similar to those of other kidney diseases, particularly benign familial hematuria (BFH).

Benign familial hematuria, also known as thin-basement-membrane nephropathy, is a kidney disease that usually begins during childhood. The disorder is characterized by the presence of red blood cells in the urine (hematuria).

Red to brown urine: Hematuria; hemoglobinuria; myoglobinuria
