Bladder outlet obstruction is rare in women. But, when its does occur, it is usually caused by neurological disorders or a very large, sagging bladder. Bladder outlet obstruction is very common in older men.

Bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). BOO describes any blockage in the urethra or at the opening of the bladder. The obstruction may occur in boys or girls.

Bladder outlet obstruction: Abnormal narrowing or blockage to the normal flow of urine from the bladder and urethra out of the body. May occur as a result of initial repair of bladder exstrophy or after bladder neck reconstruction.
