Ptosis (occasionally called blepharoptosis ) is the paralysis of the muscles of the eyelid . It is commonly called droopy eyelids .

Lenz Microphthalmia syndrome is an extremely rare inherited disorder characterized by abnormal smallness of one or both eyes (unilateral or bilateral microphthalmos) and/or droopy eyelids (blepharoptosis), resulting in visual impairment.

Ptosis, also called blepharoptosis, can affect one or both eyes. Description The eyelids serve to protect and lubricate the outer eye. The upper eyelid is lifted by a muscle called the levator muscle.

facial abnormalities: round face, blepharoptosis, maxillary hypoplasia, broad stubby nose, long philtrum, abnormal ear position;
genital abnormalities: saddle-shaped scrotum;
small hands and feet.

A myopathic disorder with a slowly progressive blepharoptosis and dysphagia, beginning late in life; autosomal dominant inheritance; there is also a similar autosomal dominant trait.
