Bradyarrhythmia

Disease BrachydactylyBradycardia

Bradyarrhythmias
Bradyarrhythmias occur if the heart rate is slower than normal. If the heart rate is too slow, not enough blood reaches the brain. This can cause you to pass out.

Bradyarrhythmias - Bradyarrhythmias are heart rhythm abnormalities that cause an abnormally slow heartbeat. Most bradyarrhythmias are due to one of two kinds of problems: sinus bradycardia or heart block.

Bradyarrhythmias
(See also bradycardia, below) These are slow heart rhythms, which may arise from disease in the heart's electrical conduction system. Examples include sinus node dysfunction and heart block.

Causes of arrhythmias: Some arrhythmias (eg, PACs, PVCs, PSVT) often occur spontaneously in patients without serious underlying disorders, but others are often caused by a serious cardiac disorder.

Arrhythmias can also be classified as slow (bradyarrhythmia) or fast (tachyarrhythmia). "Brady-" means slow, while "tachy-" means fast.

Tachycardia-bradycardia syndrome is a condition in which a person suffers from tachyarrhythmia (faster pulse) and bradyarrhythmia (slower pulse) in an alternating fashion. It is usually a complication of another, simpler arrhythmia.

Arrhythmias can occur with a normal heart rate, or with heart rates that are slow (called bradyarrhythmias -- less than 50 beats per minute).

In 90% of those patients studied with nocturnal bradyarrythmia (slowed heart rate), there was no sign of heart rhythm abnormalities while awake. Bradyarrhythmias occurred only during sleep and varied considerably in frequency and severity.
