Bursitis
Bursitis is inflammation of a bursa. Bursae are small sacs located between two adjoining structures, usually muscles, tendons and bones. Bursae decrease friction and assist movement of the tendon over the bony surface.

Bursitis
Bursitis is an inflammation of a closed sac of fluid located near the joints called a bursa. When the bursa becomes inflamed, it causes joint pain and swelling.

Bursitis
What is a bursa?
A bursa is a closed, fluid-filled sac that functions as a cushion and gliding surface to reduce friction between tissues of the body.

Bursitis
Definition
Bursitis is the painful inflammation of one or more bursae, which are padlike sacs found in parts of the body that are subject to friction.

Bursitis: Overview
This condition occurs when bursa (sacs of fluid that cushion movement between the bones, tendons and muscles at your joints) become painfully inflamed.

What Causes Bursitis?
People who overexert themselves in activities or have arthritis are at risk of developing bursitis because of altered body alignment and movement.

Hip bursitis: A bursa is a fluid-filled sac that functions as a gliding surface to reduce friction between moving tissues of the body. There are two major bursae of the hip. Bursitis is usually not infectious, but the bursa can become infected.

Elbow bursitis: At the tip of the elbow (the olecranon area), there is a bursa, a fluid-filled sac that functions as a gliding surface to reduce friction with motion. This bursa is known as the olecranon bursa.

Bursitis is a common sports-related injury and can also be an occupational hazard if one's job requires repetitive motions over extended periods.

Bursitis
Diseases & Conditions A-Z
Bursitis is painful inflammation of a bursa - a flat sac containing joint (synovial) fluid that reduces friction in areas where skin, muscles, tendons, and ligaments rub over bones).

Bursitis occurs when the bursa becomes inflamed. This inflammation can be caused due to accident or injury. Age and other problems such as osteoarthritis can affect the joint spaces and cause problems such as bursitis.

Bursitis is an inflammation of small sacs of fluid (bursae) that help joints move smoothly. Olecranon bursitis, which affects the olecranon bursa at the back of the elbow, is sometimes called Popeye elbow.

Bursitis is inflammation of a bursa. A bursa is a fluid-filled sac that surrounds joints or tendons. A bursa reduces friction by cushioning muscles or tendons and bones that move back and forth across each other.

Bursitis means inflammation of a bursa. The bursa at the back of the elbow over the olecranon is the most common bursa to become inflamed. Inflammation causes swelling and extra fluid to be made.
What causes olecranon bursitis?

Bursitis can develop at the inferior calcaneus, near the insertion of the plantar fascia. Symptoms and signs include throbbing heel pain, particularly when the shoes are removed; mild warmth; and swelling.

Bursitis is inflammation of a bursa. A bursa is a thin, slippery piece of tissue that protects tendons. Tendons are the tissues that connect muscles to bones. The bursa reduces friction between the tendon and bone.
