Cat scratch disease (CSD) also known as Cat scratch fever, is a usually benign infectious disease caused by the intracellular bacterium Bartonella. It is most commonly found in children 1-2 weeks following a cat scratch or bite.

Cat scratch disease is caused by Bartonella henselae. The disease is spread through contact with an infected cat (a bite or scratch), or contact with cat saliva on broken skin or the white of the eye.
