Chinese restaurant syndrome (CRS) occurs in some people after they eat foods containing the food additive monosodium glutamate (MSG) - a common ingredient in Chinese food.

Chinese restaurant syndrome (CRS)
Chinese restaurant syndrome is a set of symptoms experienced by some people after they eat at a Chinese restaurant. Symptoms can include headache, burning, flushing, sweating, tingling and chest pain.

Chinese restaurant syndrome: A syndrome first described in 1968 in people who had eaten Chinese food on which MSG (monosodium glutamate) had been lavished. The syndrome only seems to occur in some people.

It is often associated with the so-called "Chinese restaurant syndrome" characterized by headaches, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, and flushing of skin, due to the MSG content in the food.
