Chylothorax - An accumulation of chylous fluid in the pleural space.
Chylous effusion - The leakage of chyle from the thoracic duct.

Chylous effusion (chylothorax) is a milky white effusion high in triglycerides caused by traumatic or neoplastic (most often lymphomatous) damage to the thoracic duct. Chylous effusion also occurs with the superior vena cava syndrome.

Major postoperative morbidity, including chylothorax, empyema, pneumonitis, adult respiratory distress syndrome, and bleeding was observed in eight patients. There were three treatment-related deaths.

an overgrowth of abnormal smooth muscle-like cells (LAM cells) in the lungs, resulting in the formation of lung cysts and the destruction of normal lung tissue. They may also have an accumulation of fluid in the cavity around the lungs (chylothorax).

These may be used for babies with conditions such as chylothorax, gastrointestinal disorders like protein-losing enteropathy, and liver disease.
