Classic migraine. With a classic migraine, a person has these visual symptoms (also called an "aura") 10 to 30 minutes before an attack:
sees flashing lights or zigzag lines
has blind spots or loses vision for a short time ...

Classic migraines start with a warning sign, called an aura. The aura often involves changes in the way you see. You may see flashing lights and colors. You may temporarily lose some of your vision, such as your side vision.

Classic migraines are often preceded by neurological symptoms which develop before the headache. These may include visual symptoms, or other symptoms such as weakness, loss of sensation in the limbs or inability to talk.

classic migraines
A type of migraine that involves the appearance of neurological symptoms, called an aura (flashing lights or zigzag lines, or temporary loss of vision) 10 to 30 minutes before an attack. An attack may last one or two days.

In ‘classic migraine' the attack is preceded by warning symptoms (aura) such as vague changes in mood, low energy levels, and feelings or hunger, thirst.

People with classic migraines experience an aura before their headaches. Most often, an aura is a visual disturbance (outlines of lights or jagged light images). Classic migraines are usually much more severe than common migraines.

Patients with classic migraine have a two-fold increase in incidence of mitral valve prolapse.
