If the cells that pump the fluid out of your cornea, the endothelial cells, are low in number relative to your age, or if your endothelial cells are abnormal, you have a higher risk of developing a cloudy cornea and requiring a corneal transplant.
These include enlargement of the liver and spleen, cloudy corneas (windshield of the eye), changes in the light sensing retina of the eye, facial features, and neurological deterioration. The heart and its valves frequently malfunction as well.
A cloudy cornea (usually, the clear part of the eye) may produce an appearance similar to a white pupil. The causes of a cloudy or white cornea are different from those of a white pupil, but are also significant and require immediate attention.
