Corneal dystrophy

Disease Corneal DiseasesCorneal Edema

Corneal Dystrophy, Fuchs Endothelial, Early Onset
The cornea functions as the clear ‘windshield’ of the eye. Diseases of the cornea such as this one often lead to visual difficulties when it becomes clouded due to disease.

Congenital stromal corneal dystrophy is an inherited eye disorder. This condition primarily affects the cornea, which is the clear outer covering of the eye. In people with this condition, the cornea appears cloudy and may have an irregular surface.

Fuchs' endothelial dystrophy, Fuchs' corneal dystrophy
Causes
Fuchs' dystrophy can be inherited, which means it can be passed down from parents to children. In some families, it is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner.

Tortuous and dilated retinal vessels are common, as is a corneal dystrophy.
Distal pain and vasomotor disturbances are common.
Cardiac and renal disease is common, with death typically occurring by age 40.
