Corticobasal degeneration (CBD): CBD is a neurologic movement disorder that becomes worse over time. Certain parts of the brain are damaged and loss their ability to function, leading to the symptoms seen in affected people.

Some people with corticobasal degeneration experience alien hand syndrome, in which they can't control movement in one hand. Or they lose the ability to carry out purposeful movements, such as getting dressed or combing hair.

Multiple systems atrophy, corticobasal degeneration, vascular pseudo-parkinsonism and progressive supranuclear palsy may all appear similar to Parkinson's disease.

In contrast, people with Parkinson disease-like symptoms caused by other diseases, (such as progressive supranuclear palsy, multiple system atrophy, corticobasal degeneration, or dementia with Lewy bodies) typically do not improve with medication.
