CREST SYNDROME: a type of scleroderma characterized by a variety of different symptoms (primarily calcinosis, Raynaud's phenomenon, esophageal dysfunction, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasia).

CREST syndrome. This immune system disorder is a subset of scleroderma, a disease that leads to thickening, tightening and hardening of connective tissue.

Limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (CREST syndrome): usually have their skin sclerosis confined to their hands. Less commonly the skin of the face and neck become involved.

CREST Syndrome
Scleroderma is a rare autoimmune connective tissue disorder characterized by abnormal thickening of the skin. Connective tissue is composed of collagen, which supports and binds other body tissues.

Raynaud's disease in children is extremely rare and is more likely to develop due to an underlying problem such as scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus, CREST syndrome, takayasu arteritis and giant cell arteritis among other conditions.

Systemic sclerosis occurs in two distinct forms: localized (CREST syndrome) and diffuse. CREST syndrome, the more benign form, accounts for 80% of cases.

Autoimmune conditions (Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, CREST syndrome) have been associated with a higher incidence of periodontal disease.

This used to be called CREST syndrome. If you have this type of systemic sclerosis you will usually have Raynaud's phenomenon for years before any other symptoms develop.
Other symptoms of systemic sclerosis which may then develop include: ...

CREST syndrome (calcium skin deposits, Raynaud's phenomenon, esophageal dysmotility, sclerodactyly, telangiectasis)
Buerger's disease
Sjögren's syndrome
rheumatoid arthritis
occlusive vascular disease
polymyositis
cryoglobulinemia ...

Certain medical conditions increase your chances of having heartburn. Hiatal hernia, diabetes, and many autoimmune diseases (CREST syndrome, Raynaud phenomenon, and scleroderma) are linked to heartburn.

Limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis
This type involves the skin of your fingers, lower arms and legs, face and neck. A variation is called CREST syndrome. CREST stands for these conditions:
Calcinosis - calcification in the skin ...

Some patients who may have either limited or diffuse systemic sclerosis also have what is known as CREST syndrome, which is characterized by: ...
