Curvature of the penis has been associated with Dupuytren's contracture. This is a cord-like thickening across the palm of one or both hands. It is a fairly common disorder in white men over age 50.

Peyronie's disease is an abnormal curvature of the penis caused by scar tissue in the erectile tissue. Because the scar tissue prevents straightening of the penis, the curvature is most obvious during an erection.

Verapamil and interferon alpha-2b seem to diminish curvature of the penis. The other injectable agent, collagenase, is undergoing clinical trial and results are not yet available.

There is a risk of developing curvature of the penis (Peyronies' disease) due to scarring from repeatedly injecting into the same site or from kinking or buckling of the penis while having intercourse without a sufficiently rigid erection.

It is a curvature of the penis when it is erect. It is typically seen in men between ages 30 and 50. It tends to be self-limited, meaning, it will stop progressing by itself. It does not always need to be treated.
