Cyclic neutropenia is a rare congenital granulocytopoietic disorder, usually transmitted in an autosomal dominant fashion. It is characterized by regular, periodic oscillations in the number of peripheral neutrophils.
The outcome for cyclic neutropenia is usually good because this form of neutropenia is generally benign. In about 10% of cases, afflicted individuals die from infection.
