A diagnostic laparoscopy is a procedure in which your healthcare provider uses a laparoscope to look at the organs in the abdomen and pelvis, such as the liver or appendix or, in women, the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.

A surgical procedure used to examine a person's internal organs. A laparoscope, a thin viewing tube similar to a telescope, is passed through a small incision in the abdomen.
Diagnostic laparoscopy is a surgical procedure used to evaluate intra-abdominal or pelvic pathology (eg, tumor, endometriosis) in patients with acute or chronic abdominal pain and operability in patients with cancer.
Diagnostic laparoscopy may be recommended to determine if endometriosis, or another condition, could be causing the pain.
