The more you know about your health, the better prepared you are to make informed healthcare decisions.

Double aortic arch is a type of vascular ring heart defect. In a normal heart, the blood flows in from the body to the right atrium, goes into the right ventricle, and then goes to the lungs to pick up fresh oxygen.

Double aortic arch is very rare. Vascular rings make up just a few of all congenital heart problems. Of these, a little more than half are double aortic arch. The condition occurs just as often in males as in females.
