Definition
A sebaceous cyst is a closed sac under the skin filled with a cheese-like or oily material.

The epidermal cyst sac is filled with a soft, whitish brown material that sometimes oozes out onto the skin's surface. This material, which is keratinous debris (dead skin cells), smells like rotten cheese.

Autosomal dominant variant of familial adenomatous polyposis, caused by mutations in the APC gene. Features include multiple premalignant colon polyps, benign bone exostoses, epidermal cysts, dermoid tumours, fibromas and neurofibromas.
