What is Epididymitis and Orchitis?
Epididymitis and Orchitis is a condition affecting the testis and epididymus (a long structure on the posterior surface of the testes, ...

Epididymitis is usually caused by the spread of an infection from the urethra or the bladder. The most common infections that cause this condition in young heterosexual men are gonorrhea and chlamydia. In children and older men,E.

Epididymitis and Orchitis
If you are a male and experiencing pain in the scrotum or testicle, then it might be attributed to epididymitis, orchitis or a combination of the two.

What is epididymitis?
Inflammation of the epididymis is much more common than orchitis. Epididymitis usually arises as a complication of an urinary system infection, and is usually caused by a bacteria.

Epididymitis is an inflammation of the epididymis. The epididymis is the tube that sperm pass through. It is at the back of each testicle. Epididymitis can affect both testicles, but it most often happens on just 1 side.
How does it occur?

Epididymitis is an infection of the epididymis. The epididymis is a soft, coiled tubular structure on the back of the testicle.
What is going on in the body?

Usually epididymitis is caused by bacterial infection. Most commonly, urinary tract infections may result in spread of bacteria to the epididymus. Other causes of this condition include the sexually transmitted diseases gonorrhea and chlamydia.

Epididymitis. This infection in the tubular coil (epididymis) that collects sperm from the testes produces pain in the top and rear of the scrotum. Epididymitis is often caused by bacteria. The pain may be severe.

Epididymitis is an inflammation of one or both of the tubules (epididymis or epididymides) that are attached to each testicle. Epididymides act as conduits of sperm from the testes to the urethra.

(3) Epididymitis
Storage of sperm in an infected epididymis can reduce sperm quality. If suspected, daily ejaculation to reduce the storage time can occasionally be useful.

Acute epididymitis is an inflammation of the epididymis. This is a structure shaped like a tube that surrounds and attaches to each testicle. The epididymis helps transport and store sperm cells.

What are the signs and symptoms of conditions causing testicular pain?
How are the causes of testicular pain diagnosed?

For instance, men who are suffering from urethritis develop conditions such as urethra stricture, prostatitis, pyelonephritis, orchritis, epididymitis and cystis; all these conditions can be fatal.

In men, gonorrhea can cause epididymitis, a painful condition of the testicles that can sometimes lead to infertility if left untreated.

If left untreated, complications can include epididymitis and infertility. Consistent and correct use of latex condoms during sexual activity greatly reduces the likelihood of infection.

Testicular ultrasound: Used to diagnose testicular torsion, epididymitis (testicle infection), and testicular masses.
Neck ultrasound: The thyroid and parathyroid glands can be imaged to detect nodules, growths, and tumors.

There is also a risk of developing conditions such as cystitis, epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis), septicaemia (blood poisoning) and an abscess on your prostate.

Scrotal masses linked to sexually transmitted diseases (for example, epididymitis) may be prevented by practicing safe sex.
Scrotal masses resulting from injury may be prevented by wearing an athletic cup during exercise.

If not treated for NGU, a person may experience swelling of the testicles (epididymitis) and infection of the prostate gland. More importantly, they may infect sexual partners.
What can be done to prevent the spread of NGU?

Infection of the epididymis is called epididymitis. The epididymis is a small organ attached to the testicle that is made up of coiled tubes that carry sperm away from the testicle.

Men may suffer from an inflammation of the duct that drains the testis, a condition called epididymitis. Less common is inflammation of the testicles (orchitis). There is also a risk of infertility.

In men, chlamydia may produce symptoms similar to those of gonorrhea (discharge from penis or rectum, burning on urination or defecation), and can also cause epididymitis and orchitis. However, up to 25% of infected men may have no symptoms.

However, if left untreated it can lead to serious complications, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, scarring of the fallopian tubes, infertility, prostatitis, epididymitis, ectopic pregnancy and other complications.

When present in males, chlamydia symptoms can include discharge from the tip of the penis and a burning feeling during urination. Untreated infections can lead to epididymitis, an inflammation of the coiled tubes in the back of the testicles.

Epididymitis, an infection of a testicle, is an uncommon but painful complication; it is the male counterpart of PID in women. Men may be infected in the urethra without symptoms, but this is less common than asymptomatic infection in women.
