Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
Definition
Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis is scar tissue that forms in parts of the kidney called glomeruli. The glomeruli serve as filters, helping rid the body of unnecessary or harmful substances.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)
Sometimes nephrotic syndrome is caused by a serious condition called focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). FSGS causes scarring on the parts of the kidneys that filter the blood.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS): Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a type of glomerular disease (disease that affects the glomeruli) that can cause permanent kidney disease in children and adults.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. Characterized by scattered scarring of some of the glomeruli, this condition may result from another disease or occur for no known reason. Males are slightly more likely to have this disorder than are females.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)
This is a condition where small scars (sclerosis) develop on some glomeruli. The cause is unknown in most cases.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
Goodpasture syndrome
Membranoproliferative GN
IgA nephropathy
Lupus nephritis or Henoch-Schonlein purpura
Anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody disease ...

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (including the collapsing variant) with or without nephrotic syndrome, which may lead to renal failure, has been reported in Aredia-treated patients, particularly in the setting of multiple myeloma and breast cancer.

If you have focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), it means the scarring is more limited.
Glomerulosclerosis affects both children and adults. Males are affected slightly more often than females, and it occurs more frequently in African Americans.

Hereditary Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (See Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis)
Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer; HNPCC (See Lynch syndrome)

Glomerulonephritis - Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis - Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis - Membranous glomerulonephritis - Nephritic syndrome - Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis - Nephrotic syndrome (Minimal change disease) - IgA ...

The most common primary glomerular diseases include membranous nephropathy, IgA nephropathy, and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. The first sign of a glomerular disease is often proteinuria, which is too much protein in the urine.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease)
Lupus nephritis
Membranous glomerulonephritis
Mesangial proliferative disorder ...

Scarring of the glomeruli (seen in the biopsy in about 20 per cent of children) due to focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, post-infectious glomerulonephritis or other conditions.

The primary diseases include minimal change disease, focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, membranous glomerulopathy, proliferative glomerulonephritis and membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis.

If a kidney biopsy is performed early on, it may be possible to reach a precise diagnosis of the cause, such as membranous glomerulonephritis, IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease), focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, mesangial proliferative disorder, ...

glomerulosclerosis - Scarring of the glomeruli resulting from diabetes mellitus (diabetic glomerulosclerosis) or from deposits in parts of the glomerulus (focal segmental glomerulosclerosis).

Sodium - urine
Inborn errors of metabolism
Hereditary urea cycle abnormality
Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) ...

Diabetic nephropathy usually takes years to develop, and maintaining good control of blood sugar levels and controlling blood pressure may prevent or slow the kidney damage.
