Giant papillary conjunctivitis
This is uncommon. It is inflammation of the conjunctiva lining the upper eyelid. It occurs in some people who have a small object on the eye - most commonly, a contact lens.

Giant papillary conjunctivitis is experienced by 1-5% of people using soft contact lenses and 1% of people using hard contact lenses.

Contact lens-associated papillary conjunctivitis, also called giant papillary conjunctivitis, or GPC, is a reaction to ill-fitting contact lenses, contact lens overuse or to their solutions.

Contact lens wearers may develop giant papillary conjunctivitis, triggered by constant local irritation by the contact lenses on the conjunctival surfaces. The lining of the upper eyelid is usually most affected.

Allergic eye conditions include allergic conjunctivitis, conjunctivitis with atopic dermatitis, vernal keratoconjunctivitis, and giant papillary conjunctivitis.

Conjunctivitis may be triggered by a virus, bacteria, an allergic reaction (to dust, pollen, smoke, fumes or chemicals) or, in the case of giant papillary conjunctivitis, a foreign body on the eye, typically a contact lens.

Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis (GPC). In this condition, there is itching, lens intolerance, and redness while wearing the contact lenses.
