Definition
A glomus jugulare tumor is a small, ball-like swelling in the area of the middle ear.

 


A glomus jugulare tumor is a small, ball-like swelling of a part of the jugular vein (a large vein in the neck) or along Jacobson's nerve in the temporal bone of the skull.

Chemodectoma is another benign tumor of the chemoreceptor system, the most common types being the carotid body tumor and the glomus jugulare tumor. Also known as nonchromaffin paraganglioma.
