Disease Glossopharyngeal neuralgiaGlucagonoma syndrome

Glucagonoma (Neuroendocrine Tumor)
Overview

Glucagonoma is a rare neuroendocrine tumor that originates in the alpha2 cells of the pancreas.

Glucagonoma
Definition
Glucagonoma is a very rare tumor of the islet cells of the pancreas, which leads to an excess of the hormone glucagon in the blood.

A glucagonoma is a rare tumor of the alpha cells of the pancreas that results in up to a 1000-fold overproduction of the hormone glucagon.

Glucagonoma: A tumor that forms in cells that make glucagon. Glucagon is a hormone that increases the amount of glucose in the blood. It causes the liver to break down glycogen. Too much glucagon causes hyperglycemia (high blood sugar).

Glucagonoma. A glucagonoma is an islet cell tumor that produces too much of the hormone glucagon. In contrast to an insulinoma, a glucagonoma causes hyperglycemia, a condition where there is too much sugar in the blood.

glucagonoma - a tumor that secretes glucagon, a hormone that raises levels of glucose in the blood, leading to a rash.
What are the symptoms of pancreatic cancer?

Glucagonomas are usually cancerous, they cause diabetes mellitus and a distinctive rash called necrolytic migratory erythema.

Having a condition associated with insulin resistance (eg, acanthosis nigricans) ...

For example, cells in the pancreas that make insulin or glucagon can become cancerous ('insulinomas' and 'glucagonomas'). These behave differently to ductal adenocarcinoma.

When they do occur, they may cause the affected cells to produce too much hormone. For example, tumors in glucagon cells (glucagonomas) might cause excess amounts of glucagon to be secreted, ...
