Granuloma annulare is a chronic skin condition that consists of a circular-shaped rash with reddish bumps.

How is granuloma annulare diagnosed?
In addition to a complete medical history and physical examination, diagnosis is usually confirmed with a skin biopsy (removing a small sample of tissue for examination under a microscope).

Granuloma annulare usually causes no other symptoms, but the rash may be slightly itchy.
Patients usually notice a ring of small, firm bumps (papules) over the backs of the forearms, hands or feet. Occasionally, multiple rings may be found.
