Heel pain is the most common foot problem that doctors see. The pain usually occurs underneath your heel (plantar fasciitis) or just behind it, where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel bone (Achilles tendinitis).

Heel pain is most common in active people over the age of 40. This increased prevalence may result from a decrease in the elasticity of the plantar fascia and a slowing of the healing process with age.
