What is an MRI scan?

Hepatic hemangiomas are benign tumors of the liver that consist of small blood vessels. They are the most common benign tumors of the liver and are thought to be present in as many as 7% of healthy people.

Hepatic hemangiomas can occur at anytime, but are most common in the 30s to 50s. Women are affected more often than men, and usually have bigger tumors than men.

In infants with hepatic hemangiomas or hemangioendotheliomas, which can be diagnosed by imaging.
In infantile hepatic choriocarcinoma, which can be diagnosed by imaging and markedly elevated beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-hCG).[14] ...
