Interstitial keratitis

Disease Interstitial cystitisInterstitial lung disease

Interstitial keratitis is a serious condition in which blood vessels grow into the cornea. Such growth can cause loss of the normal transparency (clarity) of the cornea.

Interstitial keratitis: Also called parenchymatous keratitis, interstitial keratitis is a chronic inflammation of tissue deep within the cornea. Interstitial keratitis is rare in the United States.

A nonsyphilitic interstitial keratitis characterised by an abrupt onset with vertigo and tinnitus followed by deafness; about 50% of patients have an associated systemic disease, most commonly polyarteritis nodosa.
Synonyms: Cogan's syndrome.

Hutchinson's Triad, a set of symptoms consisting of deafness, Hutchinson's teeth (centrally notched, widely-spaced peg-shaped upper central incisors), and interstitial keratitis (IK), ...

Cogan's syndrome can lead to eye inflammation called interstitial keratitis (in-ter-STISH-al ker-ah-TI-tis). The syndrome also can cause hearing changes, including sudden deafness.
Giant Cell Arteritis ...

If it affects the deeper layers of the cornea (the corneal stroma), it is called stromal keratitis or interstitial keratitis . It may involve the center of the cornea or the peripheral part of the cornea (that portion closest to the sclera) or both.

Your doctor will refer you to an ophthalmologist for an eye examination to look for eye problems, including a condition called interstitial keratitis, which is inflammation of the cornea, the transparent covering of the eye.

Characteristic changes of the teeth include a notched appearance on the biting edges of the upper central incisors, these are called Hutchinson's teeth. Interstitial keratitis is the most common late lesion.
