Gastrointestinal cancer refers to malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus, stomach, liver, biliary system, pancreas, bowels, and anus.

 


Each gastrointestinal cancer has a different screening test and, even for colorectal cancer, the potential for increased survival in the average individual who undergoes screening is not very great.

Small intestinal cancer is a rare condition in which cancer cells develop in the small bowel of the gastrointestinal tract. The small intestine is about 20 feet (6 m) long and is located between the stomach and the large intestine, or colon.
