Ischemic cardiomyopathy
Definition
Ischemic cardiomyopathy is a term that doctors use to describe patients who have reduced heart pumping (squeezing) due to coronary artery disease. These patients often have congestive heart failure.

Ischemic cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy, which literally means "heart muscle disease," is the deterioration of the function of the myocardium for any reason.

Nonischemic cardiomyopathy may be further divided into four subtypes based upon the specific changes within the heart. These subtypes are: dilated, hypertrophic, restrictive and arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia.
.

Coronary artery disease (See: Ischemic cardiomyopathy)
Poorly controlled high blood pressure
Stress-induced cardiomyopathy
Infections that involve the heart muscle, such as viruses, HIV infection, Chagas disease, and Lyme disease ...

There are three main types of nonischemic cardiomyopathy:
Dilated—Damaged heart muscles lead to an enlarged, floppy heart. The heart stretches as it tries to compensate for weakened pumping ability.

The most common causes are hypertension, ischemic or nonischemic cardiomyopathy, mitral or tricuspid valvular disorders, hyperthyroidism, and binge alcohol drinking (holiday heart).

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD, also known as arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy or ARVC) is a type of nonischemic cardiomyopathy that involves primarily the right ventricle.

Mitral regurgitation; acute
Mitral regurgitation; chronic
Mitral valve prolapse
Pericarditis; bacterial
Pericarditis; constrictive ...

Ischemic cardiomyopathy. This term is used when coronary heart disease (also called coronary artery disease) or heart attack causes the disease.
Peripartum cardiomyopathy.

Dilated cardiomyopathy is the most frequent form of non-ischemic cardiomyopathy. The cavity of the heart is enlarged and stretched (cardiac dilation) causing the heart to become weak and not pump normally.

Non-ischemic cardiomyopathy includes three main types where the cause may not always be clear. These are hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and restricted cardiomyopathy.
