Jaundice in babies
Jaundice is characterised by a yellowish tinge to the skin and eyes. About six out of 10 newborns have jaundice to varying degrees, while the condition is more common among premature babies.

What is jaundice?
Over half of all newborns develop some amount of jaundice, a yellow coloring in their skin, during the first week. This is usually a temporary condition, but may be a more serious sign of another illness.
