This disorder was first described by Dr. Wilhelm Kniest in 1952. It is a disorder of collagen, a complex molecule that is an important component of the connective tissue found throughout the body.

 


What is Kniest dysplasia?
Kniest dysplasia is a disorder of bone growth characterized by short stature (dwarfism) with other skeletal abnormalities and problems with vision and hearing.
