Laryngeal cancer is a relatively rare tumor that affects males in 80% of cases. Cancers of the larynx account for approximately 2-5% of diagnosed cancers. Most cases occur between the ages of 50 and 70.

Definition Laryngeal cancer is cancer of the larynx or voice box. Description The larynx is located where the throat divides into the esophagus and the trachea. The esophagus is the tube that takes food to the stomach.

Regarding cancer of the larynx (laryngeal cancer), there are certain risk factors linked to the disease. For example, laryngeal cancer occurs four times more often in men than women. It occurs most often in people over age 55.

Cancer of the larynx is sometimes called laryngeal cancer. Some people also call it 'throat cancer'. However, the throat includes the larynx and other nearby structures. Cancer of the larynx is just one type of cancer that can occur in the throat.
