Medulloblastoma is a highly malignant primary brain tumor that originates in the cerebellum or posterior fossa.

Medulloblastoma
Medulloblastomas are fast-growing tumors that form in brain cells in the cerebellum. The cerebellum is at the lower back part of the brain between the cerebrum and the brain stem.

Medulloblastoma Treatment
A new approach to radiotherapy and chemotherapy may help double the chances for 5-year survival in children with high-risk medulloblastoma, suggests research in Lancet Oncology.

Medulloblastoma (MED-yoo-lo-blas-TOE-ma): A type of brain tumor that recent research suggests develops from primitive (developing) nerve cells that normally do not remain in the body after birth.

Medulloblastomas, tumors of the cerebellum, are most common in male children. Studies have shown these to originate in primitive nerve cells that normally would have disappeared soon after birth.
Meningiomas are usually benign.

Medulloblastoma. Medulloblastoma begins in granular cells in the cerebellum. It is most common in children and is most often malignant. Medulloblastomas make up about 2% of all brain tumors. For pediatric information, refer to Cancer.

Medulloblastoma
These arise in the cerebellum and are high grade malignant tumours. They are uncommon in adults, but are one of the two most common brain tumours in children (the other being an astrocytoma in the cerebellum).
Gliomas ...

Medulloblastoma is nearly always found in children or young adults, 80% are found in children aged under 15. It can spread from the medulla (part of the brain stem) to the spine or to other parts of the body.

Medulloblastoma: most common form of childhood brain tumour affecting 1 in 150,000 children with peak incidence at age 5. Affects the development and function of the brainstem structure called the cerebellum.

medulloblastomas
Medulloblastomas are one type of PNET that are found near the midline of the cerebellum.

Medulloblastoma
Malignancy originating in lower part of the brain (medulla). Can spread to spine.
Melanoma
Skin cancer arising in melanocytes (pigment producing cells).

Medulloblastoma (WHO grade IV) is a malignant, invasive embryonal tumor of the cerebellum that occurs primarily in children, has a predominantly neuronal differentiation, and has a tendency to metastasize via CSF pathways.

medulloblastoma (MED-yoo-lo-blas-TOE-ma): A malignant brain tumor that begins in the lower part of the brain and can spread to the spine or to other parts of the body. Medulloblastomas are sometimes called primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNET).

Medulloblastomas are fast-growing tumors that form in brain cells in the cerebellum. The cerebellum is at the lower back part of the brain between the cerebrum and the brain stem. The cerebellum controls movement, balance, and posture.

Medulloblastomas are the most common type of childhood brain cancer. They occur more often in boys than girls, usually around age 5. Most medulloblastomas occur before the age of 10. Surgery alone does not cure this type of cancer.

Medulloblastoma
Affects young adults, 5 year survival is between 50% and 70%. Recovery from initial treatment is expected in the typical case.

A medulloblastoma is a type of embryonal tumor. The tumor forms in brain cells when the fetus is beginning to develop. This type of brain tumor often begins in the cerebellum.

When they occur here, they are called medulloblastomas. The symptoms depend on their location in the brain, but typically the child experiences increased intracranial pressure.

Medulloblastoma: Medulloblastoma are brain tumors that originate in primitive stem cells. Quick-growing tumors, medulloblastoma are treatable with brain surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

In children, primary brain tumors (medulloblastoma, cystic astrocytoma) may be the cause; the midline cerebellum is the most common site of such tumors. Rarely, in children, reversible diffuse cerebellar dysfunction follows viral infections.

Patients are at risk for tumors of many kinds, both malignant and benign, but particularly to a brain tumor known as medulloblastoma.

The most common primary brain tumors are gliomas, meningiomas, pituitary adenomas, vestibular schwannomas, primary CNS lymphomas, and primitive neuroectodermal tumors (medulloblastomas).

These tumors include astrocytomas, ependymomas, oligodendrogliomas, mixed tumors, medulloblastomas, and the highly malignant glioblastoma multiforme, which is the most common malignant brain tumor.
