MENSTRUAL CRAMPS
Many women have menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) in association with their periods. It is usually felt in the lower abdomen and/or in the lower back. Some women have cramps that are so severe that it interferes with normal activities.

Most women have painful menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) from time to time. Menstrual cramps are one of the most common reasons for women to seek medical attention.

Menstrual cramps can be helped by other methods. Reducing salt and sugar intake the week prior to one's period seems to result in less severe cramping.

Menstrual cramps are also known by its medical term as dysmenorrhea. These cramps are characterized by either dull, throbbing pains in the lower abdomen or shooting, intense pains that may last for a few minutes.

Menstrual cramps are pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen just before or during a menstrual period. Dysmenorrhea is the medical term for menstrual cramps.

Menstrual cramps are caused by uterine contractions (when your uterus tightens and relaxes allowing blood to leave your uterus). The lining of your uterus releases special chemicals called "prostaglandins".

Dysmenorrhoea (menstrual cramps, painful menstruation), involves menstrual periods that are accompanied by either sharp, intermittent pain or dull, aching pain, usually in the pelvis or lower abdomen.
