Neurogenic Bladder
What is a neurogenic bladder?
Neurogenic bladder may also be called neuropathic bladder. The muscles and nerves of the urinary system work together to hold urine in the bladder and then release it at the appropriate time.

Neurogenic Bladder Treatment at Jefferson
If you or someone you care about is experiencing a neurogenic bladder - a bladder dysfunction caused by neurologic damage - turn to the urologists at Jefferson.

How is neurogenic bladder diagnosed?
When neurogenic bladder is suspected, both the nervous system (including the brain) and the bladder itself are examined.

Neurogenic bladder is abnormal bladder function caused by a nerve problem. The bladder may empty too often or at the wrong time ( incontinence) or the bladder may be unable to completely empty the urine (urinary retention).

Neurogenic Bladder
The normal function of the bladder is to store and empty urine in a coordinated, controlled fashion. This coordinated activity is regulated by a complex interaction of the central and peripheral nervous systems.

A neurogenic bladder is a loss of normal control of bladder function caused by damaged nerves. There are 2 kinds of neurogenic bladder problems: overactive and underactive.

Neurogenic bladder: A neurogenic bladder occurs when the pelvic nerves do not function properly. This may lead to either an overactive or underactive bladder.

Neurogenic bladder (also called neuropathic bladder) - a bladder disorder which the bladder cannot be completely emptied of urine because of a problem with the nerves connected to the bladder.

Neurogenic Bladder - A bladder with any disturbance due to an injury of the nervous system.
