Nummular eczema - This eczema causes coin sized patches of irritated skin, typically on the legs, arms or chest. It usually occurs in adults. It can be related to atopic dermatitis and, less often, allergic contact dermatitis.

It is important to distinguish this rash from other even more common rashes, such as nummular eczema. This condition, and others, may appear similar to ringworm, but they are not fungal and require different treatment.

A third type of eczema is called nummular eczematous dermatitis. This condition is defined by recurrent coin-shaped patches predominantly on the outer surfaces of the arms and legs, and less often on the trunk.

Examples of eczema include dermatitis, allergic contact eczema, seborrheic eczema, and nummular eczema. When the disease starts in infancy, it's sometimes called infantile eczema.
