Dermal exposure to hazardous agents can result in a variety of occupational diseases and disorders, including occupational skin diseases (OSD) and systemic toxicity.

Other causes:
Drugs - e.g. amiodarone (anti-arrhythmic), methotrexate, d-penicillamine
Radiotherapy
Occupational diseases - coal, silica, asbestos;
Infections - e.g. influenza, acute pneumonitis due to other causes.

Presents the criteria and standards for preventing occupational diseases arising from exposure to asbestos dust.

The following year this disease, as distinct from, and in addition to, classical silicosis, became compensable in the United Kingdom. Like all occupational diseases, black lung is man-made and can be prevented.

Many occupational abuses have been redressed by litigation and legislation in the United States, and workers' compensation takes care, by a system of insurance, of those who suffer from occupational diseases.
