Overlap Syndrome Term often used to describe a connective tissue disorder with features suggesting more than one type; or Undifferentiated connective tissue disorder.
Overlap syndrome This is diffuse or limited systemic sclerosis with features of one or more of the other connective tissue diseases.
Patients can have overlap syndromes that involve any combination of the connective tissue diseases. Therefore, patients can have a combination, for example, of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (hence, the coined name "rhupus").
