Polyps
A polyp is a small protrusion that looks like a ball on the end of a slim stalk and can grow out of the membranes lining various areas of the body. Common sites include the nose, intestines and uterus.

Nasal Polyps
Nasal polyps are fleshy, noncancerous swellings that grow inside the nose or sinuses. The most common symptoms they cause are a stuffy, runny nose. Steroid nasal drops are commonly used to shrink the polyps.

A polyp is extra tissue that grows inside your body. Colon polyps grow in the large intestine. The large intestine, also called the colon, is part of your digestive system.

Polyps are small masses that protrude in the colon. These may be benign or cancerous. Some of the benign lesion types (hyperplastic polyps) always stay benign, while other types (adenomas) can turn into cancer.

The majority of polyps aren't cancerous (malignant), yet like most cancers, they result from abnormal cell growth. Healthy cells grow and divide in an orderly way — a process that's controlled by two broad groups of genes.
