Post-vasectomy pain syndrome

Disease Postural hypotensionPostviral Fatigue Syndrome

Post-vasectomy pain syndrome is a chronic pain syndrome that follows vasectomy. The cause of this syndrome and its incidence are unclear. It is generally treated with anti-inflammatory agents.

The primary symptom that has been linked to vasectomy is the post-vasectomy pain syndrome, also known as congestive epididymitis or chronic testicular pain.

Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome
Retroperitoneal fibrosis
Progressive massive fibrosis, a complication of coal workers' pneumoconiosis
Proliferative fibrosis, neoplastic fibrosis
Tuberculosis (TB) can cause fibrosis of the lungs ...

However, in some countries - notably the USA - there has recently been a good deal of publicity about this ‘Post-Vasectomy Pain Syndrome’ (PVPS).

This pain generally disappears within two days, although the patient may feel sore for a few more days. In rare cases, pain can be persistent, which is known as post-vasectomy pain syndrome. The cause of this is unclear.
