prostatodynia: Pain in or near the prostate.
PSA: Also referred to as prostate-specific antigen. A protein made only by the prostate gland. High levels of PSA in the blood may be a sign of prostate cancer.

Prostatodynia is similar to nonbacterial prostatitis with regard to symptoms, age of patients, and ineffectiveness of treatment.

The causes of prostatodynia can be even more difficult to identify. But, the condition can be associated with stress and/or disorders of pelvic floor muscle tension or conditions such as interstitial cystitis .

Symptoms and Signs
Symptoms vary by category but typically involve some degree of urinary irritation or obstruction and pain.

Urinary urgency, frequency and pain may also be caused by urological conditions such as overflow incontinence, bladder cancer, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, prostatodynia, bladder outlet obstruction, detrusor dysfunction and radiation cystitis ...

Another condition that mimics the symptoms of prostatitis - when prostatitis is not present (no inflammation) - is prostatodynia (painful prostate).

The last type of prostate infection is prostatodynia. This is a type of inflammation of the prostate gland which is not due to bacterial infection.

prostatalgia - pain in the prostate gland, also called prostatodynia. It is frequently a symptom of prostatitis.

Category 2 is chronic bacterial prostatitis.
Category 3 includes the conditions previously known as nonbacterial prostatitis, prostatodynia and chronic pelvic pain syndrome.
