RISKS OF RECREATIONAL DRUG USE
Drug abuse has a wide range of definitions related to taking a psychoactive drug or performance enhancing drug for a non-therapeutic or non-medical effect.

 


Recreational drug use has increasingly become a part of Western culture, although in general, it is not sanctioned by society.

Recreational drug use: Many stimulants are used recreationally, for no medical purpose. However, abusing stimulants can lead to serious and potentially life-threatening health conditions.

Emerging recreational drug use: Club drugs have reflected changing trends in the recreational use of drugs in teens and young adults. These new types of drugs are often related to parental compounds of "traditional" drugs such as amphetamines and LSD.

Patient history, including any occupational exposure, recreational drug use, chronic medical conditions or childhood infections of tuberculosis or pneumonia, is very important in assessing hemoptysis.

In a large longitudinal study, recreational drug use was found to increase the likelihood of rape. Research on the relationship between alcohol use and sexual violence is not as clear.
