What ricin is
Ricin is a poison that can be made from the waste left over from processing castor beans.

Ricin, a plant protein toxin derived from the beans of the castor plant, is one of the most toxic and easily produced of the plant toxins.

Abrin is similar to ricin, a toxin that is also found in the seeds of a plant (the castor bean plant), although abrin is much more poisonous than ricin. Abrin can be made in the form of a powder, a mist, or a pellet, or it can be dissolved in water.

The plant's active compound, hypericin, has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory activity. Hypericin has also been shown to have monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibiting activity, mimicking the action of antidepressant agents.

The use of bladder irrigations with antifungal medication (amphotericin B) or system medication (oral or intravenous fluconazole, or intravenous amphotericin B) will be effective in control of infection in 60 percent of patients.

Human infections follow bites of infected Ixodes ricinus ticks, usually in persons who visit or work in forests, fields, or pastures. The infection may also be acquired by consuming unpasteurized dairy products from infected cows, goats, or sheep.

For patients with severe disease, and/or pulmonary, central nervous system or disseminated infection, a lipid formulation of amphotericin B should be used initially. Itraconazole can be used for step-down therapy once the patient has stabilized.

There is no cilia in my nose. I have had 5 sinus surgeries. At present I am using Amphotericin B irrigation along with a Clindamicin/Tobramicin irrigation twice daily. Could the lack of cilia be related to the surgeries or the irrigations?
