Schilling Test
The Schilling test is a urine test that measures how well the body absorbs vitamin B12. It is not used as much now as it was in the past.
Bone Marrow Tests ...

The Schilling test is performed to detect vitamin B12 absorption. In the Schilling test, vitamin B12 levels are measured in the urine after the ingestion of radioactive vitamin B12.

The Schilling test measures the body's ability to absorb vitamin B12 from the bowel. This will show whether the anaemia is caused by a lack of intrinsic factor.
Blood tests will also confirm if you have any antibodies to intrinsic factor.

The Schilling test assesses malabsorption of vitamin B12. Its 4 stages determine whether the deficiency results from pernicious anemia, pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, bacterial overgrowth, or ileal disease.

If this is the case a Schilling test, which measures the body's ability to absorb vitamin B12 from the bowel, will determine whether it's pernicious anaemia.

In addition, the doctor may order a Schilling test, a procedure during which the individual is given vitamin B12 injections and tablets before tests are run to determine whether the vitamin is being absorbed properly.

The results of blood studies, bone marrow examination, gastric analysis, and the Schilling test establish the diagnosis.

Proximal mucosal absorption can be assessed by the D-xylose test, and the Schilling test and several measurements of bile acid malabsorption can assess more distal small bowel absorption.
